Projects Funded

Transportation
In response to the need for appropriate wheelchair transportation, the Foundation raised funds to purchase a wheelchair accessible minivan for use by families of residents and tenants to take them on excursions, day trips and medical appointments. In 2006 a new larger van was purchased from the funds raised by the 2006 Tree of Memories Campaign to augment the van usage especially in relation to our Senior's Day Out Program.

Emergency Call Voice System
In response to the need for immediate communication throughout the facility in case of emergency, the Foundation raised the funds for a Tunstall system, which gives complete coverage of every room and corridor in the facility. Each resident and tenant has the ability to contact a nurse, day or night, from anywhere in Saint Luke's Place.

Long Term Care
The "Sweet Dreams" campaign raised funds for replacement hospital-type beds and mattresses for A-Wing Residents. In addition the Foundation gave funds towards the purchase of a second hydro sound tub for A-Second. As well new resident charts and chart racks were purchased in 2002.

Special Care Unit
As part of our continuum of care, the Foundation helped financially in the construction of the Special Care Unit, a floor dedicated to Alzheimer resident care. Recently, through donations, the Foundation was able to provide "Snoezelan" to this Unit, which opens new doors of interaction for the residents and their families in a positive environment.

Therapy in Motion Campaign
In this special campaign, the Foundation raised the awareness for the need of therapy equipment at Saint Luke's Place. A Hydro sound Lift Tub was purchased along with a Lift Chair and several other key pieces of equipment for the Therapy Room.

Stauffer Auditorium
"Access 2000" campaign raised funds to renovate the Stauffer Auditorium.

Equipment
Saint Luke's Place Foundation has been the recipient of many donations designated for special equipment items promoted to increase the independence and dignity of our residents. New chairs for the Special Care Unit, spot blood pressure monitor, hand-held non-contact thermometers, special feeding chairs and pressure relief mattresses have been purchased.

Front Entrance Canopy
In 2005, through the generosity of an individual donor, we were able to renovate our entrance with a waiting area and covered entrance to Saint Luke's Place

Tree of Memories
In 2001, this appeal raised significant funds for various furnishings throughout the facility. In 2002, and 2003 funds were raised towards the purchase of a new Call Bell System. In 2004 funds were raised to create a four seasons Courtyard Garden. Through generous Memorial donations and donations from the 2005 Tree of Memories Campaign, Saint Luke's Place Chapel was renovated. The 2006 Campaign supported a new van and the 2007 & 2008 Tree of Memories Campaign purchased 38 electric Hi-Lo beds for our residents.

Wish List
Through the generous donations of individuals, service clubs and organizations, such as our Cambridge Legions, we have been able to replace 90 of the 114 older crank style beds with new electric Hi-Lo beds. We still need over 24 Hi-Lo beds to complete our goal. If you wish more information about making a donation, please contact the Foundation office at foundation@saintlukesplace.ca.
